Project Update – XV232 Relocation Preparations Enter Critical Phase Ahead of Aircraft Move

The XV232 team has now confirmed plans for an important aircraft repositioning operation at Coventry Airport on Saturday 6 June. Volunteers, engineers and specialist contractors have spent recent weeks preparing the aircraft, equipment and support infrastructure required to safely move the Nimrod into a new operational position as preparations continue for the aircraft’s eventual relocation to its future home at the RAF Manston History Museum.

The move will involve specialist towing support, aircraft preparation activities, equipment transfers and logistical coordination across multiple teams. Work completed in recent weeks has included planning fuel drainage operations, assessing lifting equipment, reviewing access arrangements and preparing aircraft systems for movement.

While this move is only one step in a much larger project, it represents another important milestone in securing the future of XV232 and keeping the relocation programme on schedule.
