Technical Update – Work Continues on Nimrod XV232 Ahead of Relocation
Nimrod Preservation Group XV232 CIC is currently planning a short relocation move for Nimrod XV232 to a temporary site off the airfield during mid-to-late May.
The move is intended to provide the project team with additional time and space to continue careful disassembly and preservation work while longer-term plans for the aircraft continue to develop.
Preparations are now underway for the complex operation, which involves coordinating specialist lifting equipment, transport logistics and engineering activity to safely relocate the aircraft from its current position.
Recent volunteer work has focused on engine preparation, access panel removal and hydraulic system assessments to ensure XV232 can be moved safely while preserving as much of the aircraft as possible.
The project team is also continuing discussions with former Nimrod engineers and aviation specialists to help guide technical planning for the move and subsequent disassembly work.
Further updates, photographs and behind-the-scenes video content will be released as preparations progress.
